Open Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, this renowned Soho restaurant boasts a wonderfully OTT design -  all booth seating, leather banquettes, marble table tops, limed oak panelling and hand-printed Japanese wallpaper - by the late David Collins. For Christmas, Bob Bob Ricard's signature Beef Wellington for Two is the ideal choice but there are other comfort food options like lobster macaroni and cheese and monogrammed chicken, mushroom and Champagne pie as well as a selection of Russian flavours. Petrossian Caviar, traditional dumplings and fine vodka served at -18C are accompanied by a wine list which includes vintage bottles for those who really want to celebrate in style.  For group parties, there's the private room inspired by the Royal Dining Carriage, designed to accommodate between 10 and 16 guests.

Set in the opulent Art Deco surrounds of  The Savoy Hotel, the "moodily lit", "glamorous" Savoy Grill (The Independent) offers an elegant Christmas experience. Serving both a six-course lunch (for £180 per head) and six-course dinner (£150), head chef Kim Woodward cooks indulgent dishes for a hearty festive feast. Starters include pan fried curried scallop with heritage carrots and raisins; seared foie gras with chamomile, quince and toasted brioche; and gin and tonic cured salmon with pickled lemon and cucumber. Mains, meanwhile, include traditional turkey with chipolata, sage stuffing and bread sauce; treacle roasted rib of beef with roasted shallots and bone marrow sauce; and grilled Dover sole with brown shrimps, lemon and capers. After cleansing your palate with a Bucks Fizz sorbet, you can then feast on a Christmas pudding with brandy clotted cream, Bramley apple and salted caramel mille feuille or cholate and Grand Marnier opera cake.

Housed in an elegant John Nash designed 1820s coaching house moments from Regent's Park, the York & Albany is the perfect stop off for a luxury lunch after a leisurely stroll in north London's largest park. The five-course Christmas menu kicks off with a wild mushroom and truffle veloute followed by poached Scottish lobster and smoked Berkshire venison tartare. Guests can then choose between roast turkey with all the trimmings, beef wellington or poached halibut fillet before either a Christmas pudding, Valrhona Manjari and passion fruit chocolate bar or truffled brie with quince jelly, grapes and crackers. Fresh from an impressive £1 million refurbishment, The Cinnamon Club in the magnificent Old Westminster Library offers a modern Indian-style feast for Christmas Day. Switch turkey for South Indian spiced goose breast with red onion and curry leaf, just one of the dishes in a four-course feast (costing £100 per person) which starts with an aperitif of Christmas punch. To start, choose from Keralan style lobster soup flamed with cognac and served with garlic naan; stir-fry shrimps with cracked black pepper and curry leaf on rice pancake; or Tandoori breast of Scottish pheasant with soola masala and coriander chutney. An interim course of chickpea and sesame cake with smoked aubergine chutney will then be served followed by mains including slow-braised Herdwick milk-fed lamb shoulder, roast cauliflower with truffled achari sauce and the aforementioned spiced goose breast. Puddings include garam masala Christmas pudding with nutmeg custard, spiced pumpkin cake with cinnamon ice cream and green cardamom brulee with rose petal biscotti. The restaurant also offers a child-friendly, spice-free appetiser and main course.

Lanes of London, the street food restaurant within the Marriott hotel on Park Lane, Mayfair, celebrates Christmas Day with an indulgent dinner. Choose from a two (£32), three (£52) or five (£85) course menu, with dishes including duck carpaccio, butternut squash soup, traditional Christmas turkey with all the trimmings, Christmas pudding and sticky toffee pudding. The feast also includes tea, coffee and mini mince pies. Before Christmas Day itself, Festive Afternoon Tea will get you in the Christmas spirit with snowman cupcakes, chestnut Mont Blanc, and milk chocolate and clementine Christmas present stollen. Heston Blumenthal's two Michelin-starred restaurant, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, will be open on Christmas Day, providing the chance to enjoy a no expense spared six-course tasting lunch. Priced at £255 per person, the menu features dishes such as sherried scallop with grilled shiitake and cauliflower; langoustine frumenty with spelt, sea broth, Exmoor caviar and lovage emulsion; and powdered duck and cherry with braised red cabbage, umbles and pickled cherries. A seasonal take on Dinner's best-loved dish, Mandarin, Plum Meat Fruit will also be on the menu. To conclude, there are two puddings to feast on - gingerbread ice cream with salted caramel and Christmas tipsy cake with spit roast pineapple. Diners can also choose between two wine pairing menus, one priced at £90 and the other £185.

The sky-high restaurant is serving a special menu on Christmas Day, with bacon wrapped dates, roasted parsnip soup and braised short rib on the menu. Vegetarians, meanwhile, can feast on Jerusalem artichoke ravioli with caramelised cauliflower and brown butter crumble. The Restaurant at Sanderson will kick things off with foie gras or wild mushroom on toasted brioche with truffle sauce before serving starters including Scottish smoked salmon, butternut squash soup and half roasted quail. For mains, diners can choose between traditional Christmas turkey, roasted sea bass, fillet of beef or potato gnocchi. Pre-dessert is a Perrier-Jouet champagne sorbet before a choice of Christmas pudding, vanilla crème brûlée or dark chocolate tart. Prices are hardly restrained here, but the type of celebrity clients and fat cat bankers it regularly attracts don't seem to notice.
