The Berkeley Afternoon Tea

Served in the hotel's Caramel Room, the classic tradition is given a fashionista twist.

Wilton Place, Belgravia, London, SW1X 7RL

Tube: Hyde Park Corner Station , Knightsbridge Station

Served in the appropriately themed Caramel Room with its low-lighting, chocolate coloured wall coverings and snappy faux-crocodile fabrics, afternoon tea at The Berkeley is a modern, stylish affair. From the contemporary design (courtesy of Alexandra Champalimaud) of the room to the unusual, striking design of the cakes and pastries this is an afternoon tea experience for those who like to mix tradition with innovation. While the traditional elements of the meal still remain, the Berkeley has added its own creative twists to the ritual, bringing this century's old institution into the 21st century by producing cakes and pastries inspired by each fashion season's catwalk designs. Eclairs, cupcakes and shortbread biscuits are all set for a makeover in the styles of top fashion designers such as Emanuel Ungaro and Diane von Furstenburg. Prêt-à-Portea - the Fashionista's Afternoon Tea - consists of a choice selection of loose leaf teas and herbal infusions together with a delectable selection of cakes, pastries and savouries all presented in a cutting-edge style to match the current catwalk. Past Prêt-à-Portea collections have included a Stella McCartney polka dot sponge cake plus Lanvin's bavarois dress with crème de mûre jelly topped with folded meringue. A gold Dolce & Gabbana chocolate éclair sprinkled with festive stars and Miu Miu winter spice sparkly shoe biscuits. For those true fashionistas, it pays to upgrade and follow a warming cup of tea with an invigorating taste of Moet & Chandon NV Champagne served in a Baccarat crystal glass.

Koffmann's

Unrivalled French cuisine is served within an elegant restaurant with an open kitchen.

in The Berkeley, Wilton Place, Belgravia, London, SW1X 7RL

Tube: Hyde Park Corner Station , Knightsbridge Station

Enjoy hearty, robust, seasonal French cooking from a modern master at Pierre Koffmann's  restaurant inside The Berkeley Hotel. Following a long absence from the city, the triple Michelin starred chef returned to London with Koffmann's, serving unrivalled French cuisine influenced by the celebrated chef's Gascon heritage and has an excellent value menu du jour which changes daily. Stand out dishes include scallops with squid ink, braised pig's trotter with morels, cassoulet of snails with mash potato, potted foie gras with toasted baguette, grilled lobster with béarnaise sauce, roasted rabbit with Dijon mustard, braised beef cheeks and, of course, Koffmann's famed pistachio souffle. The décor is simple, elegant and understated, while an open kitchen makes for a stunning piece of culinary theatre. There is even tableside meat carving, which adds a certain je ne sais quoi. Londres est content de vous revoir, Philippe!

The Caramel Room

Tube: Hyde Park Corner Station , Knightsbridge Station

The Caramel Room inside prestigious London hotel The Berkeley combines modern chic and old school charm, providing the perfect setting for afternoon tea, dinner or a snack whether you're a fashionista, City high flier or a tourist seeking traditional indulgence. Designed by New Yorker Alexandra Champalimaud, the surroundings of The Caramel Room are smart and sensuous, combining lush chocolatey tones with sexy faux-crocodile and low moody lighting. The setting for the world famous and award winning Pret a Portea, beloved of hungry fashion types, The Caramel Room also provides a contemporary-meets-ethnic all day dining menu created by Executive Chef Shaun Whatling and his 35-strong team alongside a seasonally changed evening menu and a delicious range of lighter mezze dishes inspired by the flavours of Middle Eastern cuisine, accompanied by the best of The Caramel Room's bar.

The Blue Bar

A funky bar located within the more sedate hotel.

Berkeley Hotel, Wilton Place, Belgravia, London, SW1X 7RL

Tube: Hyde Park Corner Station , Knightsbridge Station

Having a cocktail in the Blue Bar is akin to sipping on gin and tonic in a very posh - and possibly eccentric - grand dame's sitting room. The universal blue colour chosen by designer David Collins is named 'Lutyens Blue' after the Edwardian architect who originally designed the room - and extends from the carpet to the walls and furniture. In the heart of Knightsbridge, this diminutive bar punches above its size and is well known as a funky little spot within the more sedate - some may say old fashioned - Berkeley Hotel. With the hearty French cooking from Koffmann's restaurant and this heaving bar the Berkeley has found a way to appeal to a sophisticated thirty-something crowd within the traditional stucco surroundings.

The Berkeley Health Club & Spa

The only hotel spa in London to feature a roof top pool.

The Berkeley, Wilton Place, Belgravia, London, SW1X 7RL

Tube: Hyde Park Corner Station , Knightsbridge Station

The Health Club & Spa at The Berkeley hotel lays claim to being the only hotel spa in London to feature a roof top pool, and what a roof top it is - located above the seventh floor spa, the pool boasts wonderful views across Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. In keeping with the discrete atmosphere of this five star hotel, the spa is a haven of relaxing massages and indulgent beauty treatments where everything is perfectly pitched to make you leave feeling like a (well groomed) princess. Mums to be will be tempted by the Blooming Beautfil day spa package which includes a Mama Mio Mini Kit so you can continue the relaxation treatment at home. There are also Perfect Retreat packages 'for him' and 'for her' offering two hours of treatments that are sure to de-stress the parts other day spas cannot reach. The advantage of booking in for more than one treatment is that you can make a day of it, take lunch by the roof top pool, and afterwards stretch out on a sun lounger and make believe you're a million miles from the city. That's what we call a high flying spa experience.
