London area of Borough guide
What to do and where to stay in London's Borough neighbourhood
The thriving, fun and mouth-watering experience of Borough Market is the main attraction of this popular area south of the Thames. If gastronomy is your thing, there are hotels within walking distance of the market, where you can plunge yourself into the maze of deliciousness as well as visit the surrounding foodie shops and restaurants. The Gothic building of Southwark Cathedral stands nearby and, running south away from the river, Borough High Street is a busy thoroughfare with one gem - The George, London's only surviving galleried coaching inn dating back to 1676.
