For the first time ever the Badminton World Federation Grand Prix Gold will in England, at the Copper Box, the venue to the north of the Olympic Park which hosted the Handball Arena during the 2012 Olympics, when it reopens in July 2013. It's an opportunity for audiences to see the best players in the world compete following the hugely successful Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships that took place in the capital in 2011. The 6-day London Grand Prix will see 243 matches held at the Copper Box on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from 1st to 6th October 2013, giving sports fans who failed to get tickets to the Olympics their first chance to see the Olympic Park in action. It will be the first of a series of such competitions with the London Grand Prix being held at the Copper Box each year for the next five years.

 

About Copper Box Arena

The 7,000-capacity Copper Box, home to the Handball Arena during the 2012 Olympics, has been transformed into a new venue for a wide range of indoor sports as well as cultural and business events. Located in the west of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park close to Hackney Wick station, it was one of the first legacy venues to re-open. More about Copper Box Arena
