Chef's Playground is a new initiative that invites rising chefs to invade the kitchen and serve guests with their culinary creations. The chefs taking part are those who have been working in the industry at a high level but haven't received the same accreditation as celebrity chefs. This platform will be their time to shine. The first event takes place at The Shop and welcomes talented chef Tom Catley, who has previously worked with Rick stein, Nathan Outlaw and Nobu, to cook his favourite cuisine - Thai food. On 11th and 12th June he will serve a seven-dish Thai menu that is reinterpreted with locally sourced British ingredients. Guests will indulge on sticky braised mackerel, sour pork sausage with pickled ginger and Gloucester pork belly nahm jim skewers. Next up is up-and-coming chef Josh Katz, known for working with the Galvin Brothers and heading up the kitchen at Made in Camden. Feeding diners on 18th and 19th June, Katz will delve into the world of Middle Eastern Food with slow roasted lamb, deconstructed baba ghanoush and ras el hanout cured salmon on the menu. The evening will conclude with a decadent rich chocolate and cardamom tart.
