Timber: Cirque Alfonse

First seen at the Southbank Centre in July last year, Timber!, a circus show featuring a family from the remote forests of Quebec, returns to the site of its UK premiere for a Christmas run. With juggling axes, daring aerial acrobatics and stunts with lumberjack saws, this isn't a show for the faint hearted. Throw in a spot of clog dancing, tight-rope walking, cooking, vegetable chopping and storytelling, and it definitely wins the prize for the most random event on the South Bank's Christmas programme. Presented by circus company Cirque Alfonse, the Quebecois family which spans three generations, the show is set to traditional music with fiddles, a jaw harp, banjos and rowdy singing.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
