The Greenwich Beer and Jazz Festival returns to the Old Royal Naval College after its successful debut last year. British keys-led funk masters James Taylor Quartet and jazz legend Courtney Pine headline this five-day event alongside a whole cluster of established names and rising stars from the worlds of traditional jazz, funk, Latin and blues. With CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), The Nelson Brewery and Meantime Brewery all behind the festival, there's a strong emphasis on proper beers, ales, ciders and cocktails, while a Festival Soul Foods area promises to keep hunger at bay. The eclectic musical programme plays through pretty much non-stop from 12.30pm till 10pm every day, making this the ideal place to while away a sunny afternoon and evening with a bit of summer brews and blues. So, hop on the Thames Clipper boat and head down the river to Greenwich, keeping your fingers crossed that the fine early summer weather holds!
