OC (Orange Country, not Obsessive Compulsive) actress Mischa Barton is lending a helping hand at Harrods to launch the store's Summer Sale. The iconic Knightsbridge store is a national institution and the twice-yearly sales create unusually high levels consumer excitement - some might say hysteria. For the summer sale, over 3,000 temporary staff are drafted in to cope with the frenetic activity over the six floors of designer goods with around 250,000 shoppers expected on the first day alone. There are some real bargains to be had on an impressive range of goods, but if you've got your eye on the 42" Panasonic flat screen TV at half price you'll have to get there early. Be prepared to struggle with the huge crowds - the hunt for discounted goods has only been heightened by current economic conditions.
