Part two of Robert Harris's ancient Rome-set novel of power politics, which follows orator Cicero as he attempts to wrest power and influence away from Julius Caesar and restore the Senate. With Rome in chaos at the beginning of IMPERIUM II: Dictator, Cicero must use all his brilliance to restore the power of the Senate from the unruly civic mob and their would-be Emperor: one Julius Caesar. The West End transfer is adapted for the stage by Mike Poulton and directed by RSC artistic director, Gregory Doran.
About Gielgud Theatre
From the outside, the Gielgud Theatre is an impressive sight, towering four storeys over Shaftesbury Avenue, its height further emphasized by the turret on top. The interior is also magnificent, with richly-decorated pillars supporting the boxes and lavish Baroque ornamentation. Built in 1906 and known as the Globe Theatre for most of the 20th century, it was renamed after the great actor Sir John Gielgud in 1994. More about Gielgud Theatre
