'Master Harold'... and the boysA semi-autobiographical play by Tony Award-winning playwright Athol Fugard, 'Master Harold'... and the boys comes to the National Theatre this September. Set in 1950s apartheid South Africa, the play tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Sam and Willie and Master Harold. On a long rainy afternoon in St George's Park Tea Room, Port Elizabeth, Sam and Willie are practicing their steps for the finals of the ballroom dancing championship when Hally, aka Master Harold, arrives from school to hide out in his parents' tea room.
