Prince and PatronTo mark The Prince of Wales's 70th birthday this year the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace includes a special display of over 100 works of art personally selected by His Royal Highness. Among the works selected for Prince and Patron are Johan Joseph Zoffany's 18th century painting The Tribuna of the Uffizi, Napoleon Bonaparte's cloak, removed from the Emperor's baggage train in the aftermath of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, and a 1970's oil sketch of The Queen. Alongside works of art from the Royal Collection are pieces created by young artists supported by three of Prince Charles's charities so you'll also see textiles, ceramics, calligraphy, stained glass, Moroccan designs and modern mosaics.

About Buckingham Palace

England's most famous royal palace, and the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace opens the doors of its State Rooms to the public every summer. Originally acquired by King George III for his wife Queen Charlotte, Buckingham House was increasingly known as the 'Queen's House' and 14 of George III's children were born there.
