Secret RiversOld Father Thames, gently flowing through the city centre, is no secret to most visitors to London but less is known about the other rivers in - and under - the city. The Museum of London Docklands digs up the fascinating stories behind London's Secret Rivers, unearthing the histories of the 'lost rivers' buried beneath the streets and incorporated into the city's sewer system. Ever heard of the Effra, Fleet, Neckinger, Tyburn, Walbrook and Westbourne? Discover their stories of industry, development, effluence and sacred activities at this flowing exhibition which also looks at restoration on the Lea and Wandle. It even exposes the secrets of Thames itself - its foreshore providing a constant source of fascination and revelation for mudlarkers.

About Museum of London Docklands

In keeping with its waterside location, the Museum of London Docklands focuses on the history of the East End with particular emphasis on the River Thames and the lives that have ebbed and flowed with it. The building in which the museum is housed is pertinent, too. More about Museum of London Docklands
