Feast of St George in Trafalgar Square

Though St George's Day is always on 23rd April, in 2015 it falls on a Thursday so the London celebrations in Trafalgar Square will take place two days after the saint's day, on Saturday 25th April. Flag waving is encouraged at this free event held in recognition of England's dragon-slaying patron saint with live bands playing on the main stage and food stalls surrounding the square. This year's event is inspired by the 13th century origins of St George's Day as a national day of feasting with an English farmer's market with stalls selling hog roast, homemade pies and delicious cakes. All of which you can enjoy in a splendid banqueting area between the square's iconic fountains. You can also watch live demos from leading London chefs who'll prepare English dishes from past and present in Cook's Corner, enjoy live music and a join in for a good old fashioned sing song.

About Trafalgar Square

Lord Nelson, Britain's greatest military hero, and the mighty lions that surround him, pay testament to the position of Trafalgar Square at the heart of the capital, the heart of the nation, and, at one time, the heart of an empire that controlled three fifths of the world.
