First officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 11th May 2000, Tate Modern marks its 20th birthday with the return of Louise Bourgeois' giant spider and a new exhibition on Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Monday 11th May 2020, a day of special performances and displays, kick starts a year-long exhibition showcasing Yayoi Kusama's work and includes a rare chance to experience two of her immersive mirror room installations - Infinity Mirrored Room filled with the Brilliance of Life, originally made for her 2012 retrospective at Tate Modern. Louise Bourgeois' giant spider, Maman, returns to the Turbine Hall. It's one of 20 pairings picked out across the museum to show the huge range of ideas and stories in Tate's collection. The celebrations also offer the chance to see the newest artists in the collection, go behind-the-scenes in the conservation studio, and hear talks and tours in the world's most visited museum of modern art.
