Rory Mullarkey's drama, The Grandfathers, follows eight young lads into the battlefields of an unknown conflict. First seen in NT Connections 2012, this theatrical event which explores conscription into the armed forces is a Bristol Old Vic Young Company production created with St Brendan's Sixth Form College and returns to the National Theatre in July 2013, staged at The Shed for six performances only.

About National Theatre

Each year the three superb venues in the National Theatre put on a significant proportion of the world's best productions. From intimate character studies in the Dorfman Theatre, to grand spectacles in the Olivier, the National Theatre is the spiritual centre of the British theatrical tradition.
