The London African Music FestivalThe 11th London African Music Festival takes place at 14 venues across London including the Jazz Cafe, The Vortex Jazz Club, Rich Mix and The Flyover in Portobello this September. There are several different events taking place throughout the ten day festival, from soul to funk and gospel to soukous, as the very best of African music and culture are celebrated through names such as Nigerian singer Queen Salawa Abeni, a Muslim, who unites with The Yoruba Women Choir and band, a Christian choir led by Funmi Olawum for a special concert at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall. The majority of the artists at this year's festival are performing in London for the first time or are making their fesival debut including rapper M3NSA, Eritrean singer Miryam Solomon and Somalian poet Elmi Ali.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
