The Scottsboro BoysIt's 1931, nine young black men aged between 12 and 19 are travelling on a train through Scottsboro, looking for a new life. Following a sold out run at the Young Vic last autumn, The Scottsboro Boys transfers to the Garrick Theatre in London's West End for a strictly limited run. Based on a true story, John Kander and Fred Ebb's provocative musical drama reveals what happened when nine young black men were falsely accused of rape by two white women. At the end of the journey, their lives have been changed forever. Already played to sold out houses in Philadelphia, San Diego and San Francisco, The Scottsboro Boys received 12 Tony nominations. "One of the most stunning pieces of theatre I have ever seen" says Baz Bamigboye in the Daily Mail reviewing the original Broadway production directed by Susan Stroman who now brings the production to London's West End this autumn.

About Garrick Theatre

Named after the great 18th century actor-manager David Garrick, whose portrait hangs in the foyer bar, The Garrick is a fantastic piece of late-Victorian kitsch, originally financed by WS Gilbert. The interior is decorated like a Renaissance palace, all cupids and laurels, with hardly a smooth surface visible among all the moulding, gilt and classical statues. More about Garrick Theatre
