The Sound of MusicCharlotte Wakefield, who recently starred as Sophie in Mamma Mia!, is Maria in the "crowd-pleasing staging" (Evening Standard) of Rodger and Hammerstein's 'The Sound of Music' which concludes this year's Regent's Park Open Air Theatre season. The Open Air Theatre's highest earning show, you can book tickets today for The Sound of Music, at the beautiful theatre in Regent's Park. Wakefield is "winningly headlong, spontaneous and full of life as Maria" (The Independent) and the young performers playing the von Trapp children include Les Miserables's Isabelle Allen (who plays the young Cosette), and Love Rosie's Lily Laight among the 18 actors who cover six roles, with Faye Brookes the one constant as eldest child, Liesl. The theatre show based on the memoirs of Maria von Trapp is more political than the film. Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographed by Alistair David, all the timeless classics such as 'Do-Re-Mi', 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain, 'My Favourite Things', 'Sixteen Going on Seventeen' and 'Edelweiss' soar over the trees at Regent's Park. Even the rain couldn't damped our reviewer's spirits. Highly recommended.
