The stories behind the V & A's collection of African objects are told through Africa - Exploring Hidden Histories, a free exhibition which runs until 3rd February 2013. The museum's collection of African jewellery, textiles and sculpture, assembled since the 1850s, is displayed along with 36 black and white photographs by Walker Evans which document MoMA's first display of African art in 1935. These images give an insight into to changing attitudes towards such objects, which are widely regarded as art rather than anthropoligical artefacts.
