There's no better place to be on a sunny evening than the South Bank and, with this al fresco festival of free events from theatre and circus to music, dancing under the stars and open air film stretching right through the summer months, it has a relaxed, arty buzz. Watch This Space is organised by the National Theatre and we think the best way to enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere is at Theatre Square, the green performance space on the National's doorstep, although Square² (the highlight here is Macbeth: Who is that Bloodied Man?) and the Flytower are also hosting some cool and wacky events. For the month of July, four companies take over Theatre Square for a week at a time to run workshops and amaze audiences with their dance and circus skills including juggling, aerial feats and parkour. Check out interactive installation Winter (5th to 9th Aug), both haunting and beautiful, and - for a balmy evening at the end of summer (30th Aug) - we recommend the dance extravaganza, followed by Bring&Share DJs in the Green Room where you bring your own music to be shared (simple, and chaotic!).
