In 2018 the London Transport Museum hosts a Year of Engineering exploring engineering feats like Crossrail and the Brunel tunnel. Opening on 23rd March 2018, The Digging Deeper gallery will explore tunnelling innovations and is displayed alongside an exhibition about Crossrail, Europe's biggest infrastructure and engineering project. The Future Engineers gallery, opening 13 July 2018, gives 7 to 11 year olds and their parents an interactive hands-on experience of what its like to be an engineer including driving a train. Other Year of Engineering highlights include Easter Family Fun activities linked to the opening the Digging Deeper gallery and the Crossrail exhibition and a Summer of Engineering family fun programme. Over at their Acton depot, an Open Weekend on 23rd and 24th September 2018 is themed around 'Moving London', focusing on how engineers have kept the capital moving over the last 150 years.

About London Transport Museum

After a two-year, £22 million refurbishment the London Transport Museum reopened on 22 November 2007 revealing more exhibition space than before. The museum travels back through the 200-year history of public transport, arranged according to several themes: London Transport's famous design heritage, the poster collection, public transport during both World Wars and plans for the capital's development in the twenty-first century.
