Originally a point of defense for troops loyal to parliament during the English Civil War, Parliament Hill (previously known as Traitor's Hill) is now a favoured spot for ramblers, kite-flyers, picnickers, and general strollers. The gateway to huge, sprawling Hampstead Heath, it offers stunning views over London and is one of the best places in the capital to enjoy an evening stroll as the sunsets. In summer, head to Parliament Hill Lido for a cooling dip with great views.
