Against the historical background of Elizabethan Bankside (the City of London's playground in Shakespeare's time) this exhibition focuses on the role of the actor and others involved in staging Shakespeare's plays. It also investigates the architecture, the audiences and the craftsmen who designed, built, decorated and developed the playhouses.

Apr 23 to Oct 5: Daily 9:00-12:30 (Theatre Tour & Exhibition), 13.00-17.00 (Exhibition & Rose Tour), Sun 9:00-11:30 (Theatre Tour & Exhibition), 12:00-17:00 (Exhibition & Rose Tour) | Closed Dec 24 & 25 | There is no access to the theatre during matinees.
