Built 1731-33 and designed by the architect Flitcroft, the church contains parish records dating back to 1615. This is made all the more interesting when you consider that the Plague started in this parish. The church was also famous for the St Giles Bowl which was used to give ale to prisoners on their way to Tyburn. Named after the patron saint of outcasts, the church's original foundations can be traced back to 1101 when it was a leper hospital.
