Made of reinforced concrete, Chiswick Bridge first opened in 1933 and links Chiswick, on the north bank of the Thames, and Mortlake to the south. It's also, famously, the finish line for the Oxford v Cambridge boat race. A stone marker on the south bank and a blue and black marker post near the north bank show the exact location of the finishing line . Built on the site of a former ferry, the bridge is 606 feet (185 metres) long and has a facade of Portland stone. Also worth noting is The Ship pub, where you can get a riverside pint with a view of the bridge, a world away from the busy traffic crossing it.
