Visitor Information
This 'hidden' square in Mayfair has more than its fair share of good restaurants, Victorian pubs and boutique shops, all a short stroll from the busy Green Park. A small square, piazza and peaceful side streets dating back to 1735-46, Shepherd Market gets its name from its developer, architect Edward Shepherd. In the 1920's it was considered to be London's most fashionable district. Today, it attracts a more diverse crowd with a sandwich shop next to the barbers, a newsagents a few doors down from a clutch of art galleries. There are stationery shops, cobblers and a pharmacy as well as high-end clothing stores, luggage makers and a gun shop. Altogether, an oasis of calm away from Piccadilly and the better known shopping hubs of Bond Street and Oxford Street.
