A reservoir in Manor House, Woodberry Wetlands, closed to the public for 180 years, was reopened in 2016 by Sir David Attenborough. Having previously been known as Stoke Newington East Reservoir, the free-to-enter wetlands have been carefully built into an urban wetland oasis by London Wildlife Trust. The nature reserve is a thriving habitat for migratory birds and a haven for wildlife in the city. Hedgerows and wildflowers line the banks of the reservoir, while reedbed extensions provide a wetland home for waterfowl. Kingfishers dart across water, reed warblers, bees and dragonflies buzz around the reeds. Refuel and rest awhile at the Coal House cafe, accessed via main entrance boardwalk from the New River path.
