The Old Blue Last is a legendary pub and live music venue in Shoreditch, East London brought to you by the people at Vice - a magazine for hip young things with its HQ in NYC. "This is a venue known for endorsing modish bands of tomorrow" so says The Independent and music mag NME can't help but agree calling it the coolest pub in the world. The venue has two floors, the pub and the small upstairs room where the Arctic Monkeys and the like play intimate gigs before they become the stuff of legend. The pub hosts different nights which range from fun bouncy pop to punk parties, indie swag hipster nights to dirty drum and base as well as Vice magazine launch parties. The jukebox, supplied by Rough Trade, offers a great selection of albums leading The Times to label it the best in Britain. In the live room upstairs most nights are free and even the ticketed gigs rarely cost more than a fiver. When Vice first started here in 2004 the place was pretty grotty but it has benefited from a facelift in 2010 with those famously revolting toilets replaced, more floor space created and new sound systems put in. Still, that doesn't mean you'll avoid getting beer sloshed over you in the course of a lively night out at The Old Blue Last
