Inspiration for Berber and Q has not only come from Eastern influences but also the West with American BBQ flavours - a favourite with chef Josh Katz (Galvin Bistrot de Luxe and Ottolenghi) and Mattia Bianchi (Ottolenghi and Ben Spalding). For them, there are a lot of similarities between American BBQ and the barbecued food that comes from the grill houses of the Middle East and parts of North Africa. Dining here is about large mounds of simple but carefully executed food, hunks of meat, generous sides that are not overly fussy but still require attention to detail in the cooking. The Haggerston restaurant is a great place to come for informal eating - sitting around a large table with close family and friends.
