Bringing a much-needed flavour boost to Putney, Bistro Vadouvan is a unique concept that blends the essence of classic French cuisine with spices of the Orient. Opened by the owners of neighbourhood Indian restaurant Potli, which has been pleasing west London diners for years, the restaurant's intriguing concept successfully juxtaposes the best of French culinary style with subtle Middle Eastern and Asian elements, while also feeding today's appeal for healthier food. Kick off the meal with goat's curd labneh and pistachio and olive tapenade served with za'ater spiced bread before feasting on glazed salmon with harissa yoghurt or a barbecued whole poussin marinated in sage, maple syrup, garlic and yoghurt, both of which are made using specialist clay ovens. Further options such as poached brill and prawn ravioli offer more intriguing flavour combinations. With a large outdoor terrace overlooking the Thames, attentive staff and a talented kitchen team, Bistro Vadouvan is a fantastic addition to Putney Wharf.
