Calcutta Street Originally from Kolkata, Shrimoyee Chakraborty moved to the UK in 2010 and first came to our attention through her hugely popular blog, eatwithmeshrimoyee.com. Building on the success of more than a dozen pop-ups and events, Shrimoyee's Calcutta Street restaurant offers classic Bengali dishes from her family home. Highlights on the menu range from Doi Phuchka, crispy, tangy semolina balls with potato, black chick peas, tamarind and yogurt filling, through to Malai Curry - jumbo prawns cooked in a coconut and mustard sauce - one of the many favourites from the Chakraborty's Gariahat Road residence. Calcuttans love to pick up their dinner party desserts from Chittaranjan Avenue and here you can savour local favourites such as Pithe, pancakes made with rice flour with a coconut and jaggery filling. Classic Bengali drinks on offer include Shorbot cocktails born on the streets of Calcutta, natural wines and bottled beers from Redchurch Brewery.
