Casa Cruz, the first London restaurant from respected South American restaurateur and designer, Juan Santa Cruz, serves predominantly European food, with Argentine influences, reflecting the owner's well-travelled background and time spent Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, New York and Switzerland. The 80 cover restaurant is set over two floors in a converted Victorian building, previously The Clarendon pub. Copper and clubby in feel, the dining room has an oval copper bar in the centre for a pre or post-dinner drink. Large banquettes are on the left, smaller mahogany and tanganika tables on the right. Head past the glass wine cellar to the curved mirrored staircase to the first floor where a lighter dining room with large windows and mirrored walls leads to a heated roof terrace. Argentine steaks - a highlight here - British fish and game, and French poultry are served with vegetables cooked over charcoal. Desserts such as Dulche de leche flan, and lemon polenta cake, house made ice creams and sorbets finish the meal with something sweet. With three successful restaurants, Casa Cruz, Isabel and Aldo's, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Juan has his sights set on Notting Hill and the top end of the dining market.
