At The Lanesborough in Knightsbridge, a "gilt-edged confection of a hotel" (Conde Nast Traveller), the Michelin-starred Céleste offers the first class French cuisine in a Venetian-style dining room. The interior was upgraded in 2015 as part of an extensive refurbishment of the whole hotel overseen by French designer Alberto Pinto. The restaurant includes one private dining room, seating up to 14, and two wine-tasting rooms while the main dining room, naturally lit by a domed glass roof and spectacular hanging chandeliers, is wonderfully opulent with bas-relief friezes and fluted columns. Indulge in a 5-course tasting menu and you'll dine on asparagus, morels with foie gras, halibut and lamb with a seaweed crust finishing with a chocolate tartelette with mascarpone and tonka bean ice cream.
