The first Eataly opened in Torino, Italy, in January 2007 and now there are nearly 30 stores across the world but this one, at 135 Bishopsgate in Broadgate, is the first in the UK. Specialising in high quality Italian foods, the focus is on Italian products, restaurants, bars and a cooking school, all on the ground and first floors of the refurbished building. So you can eat, shop and learn about food and cooking under one roof. The marketplace also promises quick services, on-site production laboratories and plenty of opportunities to learn about Italian food and culture though courses, guided tastings, demonstrations and special events. Eataly's marketplace is accessible from both Bishopsgate and Broadgate's Exchange Square, which is due to be transformed into a new park, connecting the building to the surrounding areas of Spitalfields and Shoreditch.
