All-American cupcakes are the speciality here but you can also tuck into many other finger-licking sticky treats. Chocolate Devil's Food Cake, New York style cheesecake and yellow vanilla cake and chunky chocolate cookies are just some of the sugar rush goodies on the Hummingbird Bakery shelf. With the unfailing support of loyal fans - who insist that this as "the best cupcake shop in London" - the Hummingbird has expanded from its original small shop on Portobello Road in Notting Hill to include branches in South Kensington, Soho, Spitalfields and Islington. Of this Islington branch, which is located within the Angel Building and which opened in January 2012, Tarek Malouf, founder of the company, said: "I've long wanted to open a Hummingbird Bakery in Islington... the local area, including Upper Street, filled with its cafes, restaurants and boutique shops, makes the perfect home for us."
