Il Cudega co-owners Luca and Giovanni, childhood friends from the small hamlet of Carimate near Lake Como, bring slow food from Lombardy to a railway arch on Westgate Street, in London Fields. Diners can discover lesser-known wine producing areas (like Oltrepo' Pavese e Valtellina) and new dishes like Raspadura (soft Grana Padano from Lodi), Slinzega (a special cut of Bresaola from Valtellina), goose prosciutto from Oltrepo' Pavese, and Risotto Giallo Saltato - saffron risotto fried into a thin layer. Alongside the restaurant is a greenhouse, parking spaces for bicycles, seating area with a veranda, outside mobile food unit selling Lombardy street food and risotto. Host to cultural events, music concerts, literature and theatre events, wine and food tastings and art exhibitions, Il Cudega also has an educational arm, providing classes for local children and young people on how to grow, taste and cook food.
