MargotOne of London's best loved Maitre d's Paulo de Tarso leaves his role at Bar Boulud at London's Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park to open his own restaurant with fellow restaurateur Nicolas Jaouen, general manager of Mayfair's La Petite Maison. Their joint venture, the 100-cover Margot , is all about the rustic charm of Italian food and wine with an emphasis on excellent service - something de Tarso is well known for having worked at the top end of the industry for over 10 years working with Daniel Boulud, Corbin and King, and Caprice Holdings. De Tarso and Jaoue n met while working together at Caprice Holdings' Mayfair restaurant Scott's. The pair were drawn to Covent Garden for the site of their first restaurant because of the area's vibrant history and cosmopolitan community. The a la carte menu is made up of small meat and cheese plates as well as pasta, salads and mains such as almond-crusted seared fillet of tuna, roast saddle of venison with pumpkin sauce and Cornish monkfish wrapped in pancetta. Margot also serves brunch, available every Saturday and Sunday with a menu designed to please each guest. From classics such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon to more experimental options like quiche with Swiss chard, fontina cheese and pumpkin cream, there's something for everyone.
