Hoping to do for melted cheese sandwiches what Bubbledogs and Meatliquor have done for burgers and hot dogs, Melt Room focuses on just one thing. Using bread from the Wapping Sourdough bakery and cheese from Kent they create pimped up melted cheese combinations of pulled pork shoulder with pommery mustard, real ale and apple chutney and sharp cheddar. Added to pastrami and BBQ chicken are vegetarian options like roast beetroot, portobello mushroom and the classic - cheese blend grilled on sour dough bread. When it opened in May 2015, Melt Room's Russian owner, Andrey Datsenko, who became addicted to the hearty grilled cheese sandwiches he had while studying hospitality management in New York told the Evening Standard: "It's not just a regular sandwich, it's more like a philosophy. It's about using quality ingredients." The shop opens from 7am for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with 10 seats if you want to eat in and enjoy your cheese with cheesy tunes.
