The bleached white decor and Ibiza beach bar soundtrack at No 1 Duke Street makes you feel as though you've stepped into a restaurant in St Tropez. But this is Richmond, London, and the visitors here are more likely to have come in from walking the dog than a day at the beach. One of four equally pretty bar/restaurants in Richmond, Clapham, Chiswick and Chelsea, each has its own unique design but all have the same feel, courtesy of a collaboration between the Design Studios Box 9 Design & Red Deer. The food is freshly made and the menu changes with the seasons so in summer you'll find 'Wonky Veg' aubergine curry made with crooked carrots and courgettes, and chicken, ham hock, leek and tarragon pie. Melon sorbet, nectarine crumble and eton mess provide the perfect sweet treat, punctuated with Caravan coffee. Seek out sister restaurants at No 11 Pimlico Road, No 32 The Old Town, and No 197 Chiswick Fire Station for more of this kind of thing.
