Paesan opens on 1st July 2013.
Mixing their two main passions in life - family and food - the team behind Paesan bring cucina povera (peasant food, Italian style) to Exmouth Market. The restaurant is the first solo venture from Antony Brown, the man who used to run Pasta Brown in Covent Garden, and features a menu by head chef Mattia Antonioni who has come to Paesan via Polpo and The Ivy. Simple, honest food is made using every part of the animal, smoking, pickling and preserving, and served along with home made charcuterie, fresh pasta, game, pulses, vintage cocktails and Italian wines. The ground floor dining room features an open kitchen and seats 70 around people in a room designed by B3, the designers of Bubbledogs. There's a stripped back look with exposed brick, cracked tiling and reclaimed furniture, and an area outside facing the market for al fresco eating as well as a bar downstairs.
