Building on the success of their Hoxton pizzeria, brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe bring a second branch of Radio Alice to London. As well as light dough pizzas, part of the charm of their east London restaurant is the building and the use of its original features - it used to be a school - so it's reassuring to know the second venue, opposite the Clapham Picture House, follows suit and retains much of the building's existing design. Distressed walls clad with sheet metal and white tiles are offset by electric hues while salvaged furniture from Bologna means there's an eclectic mix of leather banquettes and reclaimed school-chairs. The pizzas are particularly good. That's down to the sourdough base, made with organic flour, fermented for 24 hours, then topped with seasonal ingredients from the classic tomato and basil through to the more adventurous 'speck, gorgonzola, fiordilatte, walnuts and honey' and 'prosciutto di Parma, organic burrata, and orange infused oil'. A selection of piccoli includes anchovies and Mortadella from Bologna and desserts like lemon and mint sorbet complete the picture.
