In a Grade II listed building on Upper Street, a 60-seat Swedish restaurant and bar serving ' simple but exquisite' Nordic influenced dishes draws a steady stream of customers to this busy stretch in Islington. F ollowing the success of the first Rok restaurant on Curtain Road, Shoreditch, Rok in Islington mixes much-loved classic dishes with new dishes like mackerel with pickled onions and flamed crispbread, Guinea fowl with semi-cured pork belly and butter poached wild vegetables, and dark chocolate mousse with espresso sorbet and malted crumb. Returning favourites include scallop, nduja and seaweed, duck with lingonberry bacon jam and wood smoked peach with Laphroaig honey. Cocktails have been designed using the same philosophy applied to the food menu, using smoking and fermentation techniques. B iodynamic and minimum intervention wines have been chosen to complement the bold and punchy flavours served up by the kitchen.
