World Cheese Awards judge Mathew Carver is the brains behind The Cheese Truck, The Cheese Bar in Camden Stables Market and the man who invented the world's first cheese conveyor belt - Pick & Cheese. With The Cheese Barge he's come up with another brie-llant idea - serving the best of British cheese on a double-decker boat, moored on the Grand Union Canal at Paddington Central. Carefully crafted in Somerset, the barge takes cues from the Electa bookstore in Venice, with a beautiful copper 'veil' acting as an awning for the 40 cover lower deck dining room. The cheese-y menu focuses on seasonal dishes made with British cheeses including Devils on Horseback where medjool dates are stuffed with Stilton and wrapped in bacon. Head chef Reagan Ellenbroek has worked with executive chef Ross Keeling to give us fried Quicke's Cheddar curds, curried and tossed in chilli honey as well as a cured sausage created in collaboration with Crown & Queue. Out on the upper deck, seating provides the perfect spot for a glass of wine, cheese and charcuterie in the open air.
