Rebranded as simply 'Ho', to make way for flagship sister restaurant The House of Ho on Percy Street, Fitzrovia, in December 2015, this contemporary Vietnamese restaurant on Old Compton Street also gets a change in the kitchen as Bobby Chinn is replaced by Ian Pengelley, chef director of both restaurants. The menu is split into six parts -pho, salad, small sharing plates, rolls, Ho's signature sharing plates and sides. Pho - traditional Vietnamese broth with rice noodles - is available with vegetables, chicken, beef or seafood. Small sharing plates come in a choices of crispy chilli salt squid, soft shell crab served and salmon tartare with soy, yuzu, shiso quail egg and chilli while Ho's signature plates offer 'Shaking Beef' (30 day aged grass fed Aberdeen Angus), roasted Chilean seabass in Vietnamese miso served with plum sauce and grilled lime, and pan fried smoked duck. The atmosphere at this 90-seat restaurant is "fun" and "informal" with moderate prices.
