With its "Shrek-green, bubbling Vesuvius glass floor" (The Guardian), The Ivy Asia is not what we've come to expect from The Ivy group. With striking interiors, the Asian restaurant and bar within One New Change offers panoramic views of St Paul's Cathedral, fresh sushi and steamed prawn dumplings. "Showy, daft, but also joy-making" is how Grace Dent described it in The Guardian, advising us to: "just enjoy the spectacle". The sushi and sashimi is put together under the watchful eye of head chef Deepak Kotian - previously senior sous chef at Nobu London - and is complemented by special dishes of truffle yellowtail sashimi, crispy tofu bao buns with miso mayo yuba and Korean BBQ-style glazed pork belly. Larger dishes include duck and lobster with lychee rice, chilli tosazu dressed Wagyu beef tataki with pickled vegetables and laksa with fermented bamboo green tea noddles, choid sum, coconut and peanuts. At lunch there's an express menu with bento boxes for those on the go and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, the place stays open until 2.30am so you can stay and play late into the night with entertainment and music, revelry and DJs laid on.
