From husband and wife team Simon Mullins (co-founder of the Salt Yard Group) and Isabel Almeida Da Silva (former front of house of Mirabelle and The Delaunay) comes Portuguese restaurant Volta do Mar. Sitting within a Georgian townhouse in Covent Garden, the restaurant sees Head Chef George Tannock - formerly of The Dorchester, The Fat Duck, Treves & Hyde and Sexy Fish - serve a menu that explores the regional cuisine of Portugal, including the classic dishes born out of the country's trading past with Goa, Mozambique, Brazil and Macau. Plates include smoked ham hock feijoada, Iberico pork vindalho and Goan smoked chorizo with naan and there's also piri piri marinades created using chilli from Angola and Mozambique. The drinks menu showcases Portuguese wines from both the mainland and the volcanic Azores and the interiors provide a further nod to Portugal with playful references to its trading past.
