Sitting below regional Indian restaurant Pali Hill is its sister bar Bandra Bhai, an underground drinking den inspired by the illicit hangouts that were prolific in India during the 1990s. During this period the nation had a closed economy where imported goods were rare and local items were limited. As a result, a ring of smugglers would import and deal illicit goods with everything from gold watches to foreign liquor available on the black market. Bandra Bhai pays homage to this period with a design created in the guise of a front for such dodgy dealings. Guests must enter through a hidden doorway in the basement and once inside they'll be greeted with kitsch upholstery, rich velvets and gaudy art. A menu of contemporary cocktails references the tales of India with Bollywood movies The Don and Disco Dancer forming inspiration.
