The London Cocktail Club (LCC) located on Great Portland Street, just north of Oxford Circus, is the third and the latest cocktail bar from 'The Restaurant' duo JJ Goodman and James Hopkins. The basement bar is styled as a 'Gangster's tequila paradise'. Don't go expecting a 1920s speakeasy though, it's more gangsta with an "a", complete with graffiti and a decor that's part downtown LA, part Mexican crime scene. The talented barmen's repertoire ranges from classic to downright odd. Bacon and egg cocktail anyone? And the bar snack menu plays to the recent craze for hot dogs with ingredients such as margarita mayo, kick-ass salsa, and rude-boy onion coleslaw. As the group's flagship, it has almost three times the floorspace as the other LCC venues, stays open until 2am at the weekend, and benefits from its own dance floor. It offers the same all-inclusive, extroverted ambiance as the Goodge Street and Shaftesbury Avenue branches, and the Oxford Circus bar staff are quick to point out that dancing on the tables is still quite acceptable.
