Always a popular choice for local workers and tourists taking in the delights of Bloomsbury, Marquis Cornwallis , located on Marchmont Street, close to Russell Square and Fitzrovia, emerged resplendent from a refurb in spring 2016. Downstairs, it's a sea of ocean blue and the nautical themed is also seen in the lights and rope chandeliers. A splash of gold and brown, a bit of brickwork and distressed wood create an overall effect of sumptuousness and comfort. Upstairs, muted greys, blues and creams vie with exposed bricks, funky light fixtures and a grand wooden fireplace and offset with dogs in British redcoat uniform and other eclectic touches. From Cherry Orchard sausages and smoked bacon for breakfast to burgers and roasts on weekends, there's something for everyone on the menu. There are beers from the London Meantime brewery on tap and every Wednesday you can get a burger and a drink for a tenner.
