Located in the heart of Richmond, Tap Tavern feeds London's desire for gin and craft beer with a carefully curated menu of micro-brewed beers and small batch gins. A retro yet contemporary feel runs throughout the two-floor venue while a custom built marble beer wall sits at the heart of the bar, serving a tempting selection of tipples from its 17 specially imported Perlick beer taps that are designed to provide a high quality, crisp pour. From refreshing pilsners to complex, hoppy lagers and fruity IPAs to strong stouts, there's something for all tastes and the choice of a half, two thirds or a full pint expands the options further. Gin wise, there's a whopping 25 to choose from, with six of them perfectly paired with a suitable tonic to create the house serves. There's also a selection of other spirits as well as cider and wine, and a short but sweet food menu that offers quality British dishes with a twist. Options include a smoked bacon and cheese burger, buttermilk fried chicken burger, and steak frites - the perfect comfort food to accompany a drinking session - while finger food like the prawn tempura with sweet chilli sauce, cheese croquettes with ginger and onion chutney, and house nachos with all the trimmings are ideal for sharing around the standing tables. A late license at the weekend and a roster of live music during the week further add to the reasons to visit. Offering a more contemporary take on the traditional British taverns dotted throughout Richmond, this inviting independent is a welcome addition to the area and it's easy to see why it was drawing crowds so soon after opening.
